Morocco's Atlantic coast has long beaches, cliffs and fishing villages that look striking from above. Coastal flying is very different from the mountains.

Here is what to know before you plan it.

What coastal flying is like

Steady sea breezes create smooth lift along cliffs and dunes. The horizon is wide, the colours are strong and flights tend to feel relaxed.

What to keep in mind

The coast has variable wind, sea fog and cooler temperatures. Landings on sand are forgiving but tides and beach users must be considered.

Because conditions change quickly, local knowledge matters. Fly with a club or pilots who know the area.

Preparing

Wear a warm layer and windproof clothing, sunglasses and sun protection. Closed shoes help at take-off, and a bag for sand and wet gear is useful.

Combining with a trip

Many coastal places are good for a few days of rest, local fish and walks. Leave one spare day in case the wind forces a change.
