Marrakech is famous for its medina, but the region around it offers plenty of adventure. Mountains, valleys and desert scenery are all within a day trip.

Here are some ideas for building an active itinerary, with paragliding as one option.

Paragliding

A tandem flight is the quickest way to see the hills and the High Atlas from above. No experience is needed, and you can choose from short scenic flights to longer ones with photos and video.

Mountain walks

The Atlas foothills have walking routes of all levels, with village stops and views. A guide helps with routes and local culture, and early starts avoid the heat.

Desert and quad excursions

Many visitors take a half-day trip to the stony desert near the city, with quad bikes, camel rides or a sunset tea. Book with a reputable provider and ask about safety equipment.

Planning your days

Mix active days with slower ones in the medina. Put weather-dependent activities, such as flying, early in your stay so you have spare days if they need to move.
