We have renewed all of the club's safety equipment: new helmets, harnesses and approved reserve parachutes.
In paragliding, safety rests on three things: good equipment, a well-trained pilot and suitable conditions. Here is what each piece does.
Helmet and harness
The helmet protects the head at take-off and landing, the moments when a fall is most likely. It must be approved for air sports and fit well.
The harness is the seat that attaches you to the wing. A good one spreads the weight, stays comfortable through the flight and usually includes back protection and a compartment for the reserve.
The reserve parachute
The reserve is the last resort if something serious happens to the wing. It sits in the harness and is deployed with a dedicated handle.
To work when needed it must be packed correctly and inspected at the intervals the manufacturer sets, which is why renewing it was the most important part of this update.
Checks and judgement
Lines, fabric, carabiners and fasteners are inspected before each flying day, and any worn part is withdrawn.
No equipment replaces judgement. Our pilots assess wind, weather and the condition of each passenger before deciding to fly, and we cancel when conditions are not right.
New, approved equipment lets you fly with more peace of mind. If you have questions about safety, ask us before you book.
